Schedule 40/80 Steel Pipe with 5/8″ Steel Plate Bollard
The 5 inch Bolt Down Bollard may be used for protection of equipment, shelving or building. They are also useful to delineate areas and are sometimes joined by chains and act as stanchions. In not-so-critical applications, they may be used outside where in-ground bollard installation is overkill or not possible. If this is the case, you may want to consider 6″ Bolt Down Bollards.
Some applications 5 inch Bolt Down Bollard
- delineate and demarcate areas
- manage traffic of forklifts and workers in a production setting like a warehouse or manufacturing, for instance
- to act as stanchions that hold chains to divide areas
- in lieu of smaller in-ground bollards where installation is problematic or impossible
Not for Protection from Errant Vehicles
This size bolt down bollard can protect machinery and equipment from bumps from a forklift, but does not do much to stop a full-size vehicle at even a low speed. Bolt down bollards should only be used for protection from errant vehicles when in-ground bollard installation is impossible. And when that is the case, we suggest using at least a 6″ Bolt Down Bollard.
The BOSS says…
The 5 inch bolt down bollard is a lighter-duty bollard. It’s good for protecting equipment and corners from rolly carts, or slow moving forklifts. If you chain em’ together, it can keep people in line, like a stanchion does. But I wouldn’t use this in a parking lot. If it gets bumped by a car, it will get bent or torn out, and be an eyesore til you gotta replace it with an in-ground 6″ bollard.

Bollard Cover or Welded Flat Cap
Welded Flat Cap: Instead of using a bollard cover, you can have a Flat Cap welded to the top. (Dome caps not available for 5″). Note that this is better suited for indoor applications. Outdoors, we suggest using a cover, so the welded cap would be hidden and redundant.
Bollard Cover: Unless specified, we bundle bollard covers with the base plate bollards.

The following is the standard base plate for the 5 inch Bolt Down Bollard, both SCH40 and SCH80 versions:
- 5 inch: 10″ x 10″ x 5/8″ with 15/16″ Holes
Custom Plate Option: Ask about customizing the base plate size and anchor holes.
Anchors
3/4″ x 6 1/4″ Expansion Anchors
Anchor Holes: You may specify a different anchor hole and offset from edge.
Anchors: Standard Anchors are 3/4″ x 6 1/4″ Expansion Anchors. Those are included unless you choose to provide your own anchors. There are too many types and sizes for us to stock.
