8 inch Schedule 80 Steel Pipe Bollard
Extra Heavy Duty Bollard
The 8 inch Schedule 80 Steel Pipe Bollard is a large diameter, heavy-walled bollard capable of stopping a heavy vehicle at significant speeds. It is a nice size pipe to use in barricades for storefront protection where 6 inch does not seem adequate and you want a thicker wall than the 8 inch Schedule 40. It is also a good choice to protect gas utilities, electrical cabinets and transformers, traffic light cabinets and other crucial utilities.
Larger Pipes make Better Deterrents
Not only will 8″ pipes protect better than 6″ pipes in an accidental collision, the 8 inch Pipe is more intimidating to would be ram-raiders. This makes the 8 inch pipe more desirable for use as building entrance barricade protection.
Going further, set the pipes into 24″ Diameter, 48″ deep footings, reinforce the pipe interior with 4 sticks of rebar, and reinforce each footing with some rebar hoops, and you have a very staunch bollard. Each bollard including the concrete weighs about 2300 lbs!
Barricade Like a Boss!
The BOSS says…
SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!
All right, look, this pipe is intimidating. I mean you look at this pipe that’s 44 lbs/ft, an 8 footer weighs 350 lbs, set in and filled with concrete… I wouldn’t want to drive into that in anything less than a tank.
If this doesn’t deter a ram-raid, they’ll have to learn the hard way.
