5-inch Schedule 80 Steel Pipe Bollards can be used for medium-duty bollard applications. It is sometimes used as a substitute for the common 6-inch Schedule 40, which has a thinner wall, because it has similar weight and strength in a more compact form.
The 5 inch SCH80 Bollard may be used:
- as parking lot bollards to manage traffic or hold signs
- to moderately protect a storefront
- in lieu of 6-inch Schedule 40 where a more compact form is desired, and performance is non-critical
5 inch Schedule 80 is a Medium Duty Bollard
The 5-inch SCH80 is sometimes used as a substitute for 6-inch SCH40. We can’t gaurantee their performance is equal, but the pipes have similar lb/ft weight so it would suffice to say that they are similar in performance. If bollard performance is critical, we suggest you use 6 inch SCH40 or larger.
